# Reconciliation Additional Charge

A reconciliation record with charge\_type additional\_charge carries an additional\_charge object. This section describes that object.

Present only when ***charge\_type*** is `additional_charge`. It describes a fee the carrier applied that is not a weight — a remote-area surcharge, an address correction, a handling fee.

The charge is passed on at the carrier's own figure with no markup. The carrier amount, its currency and the exchange rate are included so the naira figure in ***total\_exception\_charge*** can be traced back to the carrier's line.

| carrier\_amount   | *number* | The amount the carrier charged, in its own currency.                                        |
| carrier\_currency | *string* | Currency of ***carrier\_amount***.                                                          |
| carrier\_name     | *string* | The carrier that applied the charge.                                                        |
| category          | *string* | Machine-readable category of the charge e.g. ***remote\_area***, ***address\_correction***. |
| description       | *string* | The carrier's own line description, verbatim.                                               |
| fx\_date          | *string* | Date the exchange rate was taken.                                                           |
| fx\_rate\_to\_ngn | *number* | Exchange rate used to convert ***carrier\_amount*** to naira.                               |
| label             | *string* | Customer-facing name of the charge at the time it was raised.                               |
